Children from throughout the city are invited to enjoy free summer fun at the “Boston Children’s Festival” at The Playstead in Franklin Park on Tuesday, August 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rain date is August 22.

Now in its sixth year, the festival offers city kids a full schedule of outdoor activities to celebrate the end of summer before school begins. Boston residents ages 15 and under can enjoy a marionette puppet show by Rosalita’s Puppets, arts and crafts, face painting, books and giveaways from ReadBoston, activities with MIT’s Science on the Street program, a visit from the Massachusetts Horticultural Society Plantmobile, and much, much more.

Snacks and refreshments will be provided by sponsors HP Hood, Nantucket Nectars, and Yasso Frozen Greek Yogurt. The Children’s Festival, part of the annual ParkARTS series of programs, is made possible with the support from Bank of America and Plymouth Rock Assurance.

As summer comes to a close, the Boston Children’s Festival offers young people another chance to meet new friends and experience fun and exciting activities while enjoying one of Boston’s finest jewels, Franklin Park.

The festival location is on Pierpont Road near the back entrance of Franklin Park Zoo. By MBTA, take the Orange Line to Forest Hills and the #16 bus to the zoo. By car, the park can be reached from Blue Hill Avenue, Seaver Street, or Circuit Drive. There is ample free parking and it’s fully handicapped accessible.
